Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?

IPv4 addresses look like 192.168.0.1 and use four number groups. IPv6 addresses are longer, with eight hexadecimal groups, and exist because IPv4 addresses are running out.

What are random IPs used for?

Developers and testers use them for database seeding, form testing, documentation examples, network tool demos and screenshots where real IPs must not appear.

Are these real, routable addresses?

They are random values in valid format. Some may fall in private or reserved ranges, so use them as placeholders and test data only.

Can I generate a specific range, like 10.0.0.x?

Not in this tool. It generates fully random addresses. For a custom range, generate a batch and pick the ones you need, or use the find-and-replace tool to adjust them.

Are generated addresses unique?

Each address is generated independently, so duplicates are possible but very unlikely, especially with IPv6.

Is this tool free?

Yes, free with no account and no usage limits.
